Using a Foam Roller for Waist Reduction

Using A Foam Roller For Waist Reduction

A foam roller functions to improve ones performance. The roller is extremely helpful especially for those who engage in intense training and workout sessions. The main reason why the foam roller works for waist reduction is because the human body is made up of superficial fascia, this is a connective tissue which is located just below the skin. The superficial fascia connects the muscles, blood vessels, bones and the nerves in the body.

Foam rollers are available in a number of densities such the soft foam, slightly hard foam and high density rollers. You can choose the type of roller, which you feel would be suitable for your specific body type.

Using a Foam roller

When people engage in heavy workouts or do not stretch enough, the fascia usually becomes tight. When the fascia becomes tight and restricted, it causes discomfort and results in low workout performance. The foam roller helps in releasing tension and creates space in the fascia and also provides the area with much more movement.

The roller can be used for the areas in the body such as the waist, the quadriceps, IT band, hamstrings, shoulder girdle and the upper and lower back.

Using a foam roller for waist reduction

  1. The foam roller functions to improve the range of motion, soft tissue quality and performance. It is both convenient and inexpensive. It helps in breaking down the knots, scar tissues and adhesions which accumulate over time.
  2. For waist reduction the foam roller can be placed on the waist and the roller should be rolled slowly. The roller should move through the entire muscle area.
  3. For effective waist reduction, use your body weight to sandwich the roller between the waist and the floor. To increase the pressure, you can apply more of your body weight to the foam roller.
  4. When using the roller gradually increase the pressure to be applied until the muscle finally releases. The roller can be applied on the waist before stretching, the duration of using the roller should be at least a minute. The muscle should be adjusted first with the roller and then one can work on the length with stretching.
  5. When using the foam roller, it would be normal to feel like knots. With regular usage, the pain and discomfort would soon be eliminated.
  6. The foam roller apart from improving ones performance also works to reduce chronic and acute pain, improve joint mobility, reduce the risk of injury and improve overall movement quality.

Remember

When using the foam roller make sure not to roll on joints, tendons and bony structures. Avoid using the roller over areas where you may feel too much pain or over areas where the foam roller can't roll smoothly.

It would be wise to keep in mind that while using the foam roller, you would feel slight pain and discomfort. After regular use, the pain would eventually subside, which is also an indication that you have made some sort of progress.

Individuals who suffer from circulatory problems and chronic pain diseases should avoid using the foam roller.
