Obesity is a chronic disease which affects most of the children and adults. In United States, obesity has become more common in children since 1980. In case of adults, the obesity rate has tripled. People still do not know the harsh effects of obesity and how it can cause harm to human health. It is high time to know all these effects of obesity and start taking steps to avoid getting obese and to stay healthy and fit. Here are some tips for preventing obesity which will help your children and adults too to stay away from obesity.

There are various factors that contribute to obesity. The main factors that cause obesity are lack of exercise and consumption of junk food. Many people because of laziness or weight; just avoid exercises which in return result in obesity.

Preventing Obesity in Children

Breastfeeding is the best solution to avoid obesity. Besides, its nutritional contents are also good in reducing obesity in children. To avoid obesity in children, it is essential to monitor your child's eating habits and reduce physical inactivity. Give a nutritional diet to children which will give them energy for the whole day. Also, make sure that the diet has less fat content.

Try to give activities that are of moderate intensity to your children which should be practiced for minimum 20 minutes. Ask your children to take the stairs instead of elevators which will help them to get used to stairs which will restrict them from getting fat.

Select games that are more of physical stress like cycling, ball games and outdoor games. All these games will keep them active and make them fit and healthy instead of getting obese. Children learn most of the things from their parents. So, it is better that you start with the physical activities that will make your children interested in such games and all other physical activities.

Ways to Prevent Obesity in Adults

Diet

Diet plays an important role in preventing obesity in adults. You should have a balanced diet which should include vegetables, fruits and whole grains. It is essential to give 4 to 5 servings of low sugar fruits and vegetables to an obese person to avoid more weight gain. These persons should be given one cup of cooked or raw vegetables every day. Along with vegetables, give one fruit and one cup of canned fruit which has less sugar content. Do not give fruits and vegetables that have high sugar content.

Be Active

There are various simple activities that can help you to stay active for the whole day. Avoid taking lifts; instead start using stairs whenever required. Start to go for walks in the morning and evening, as it will help you to stay active and fresh for the whole day. These activities will not only help you to stay active, but will also help to reduce those extra calories which are responsible for obesity. Start with exercises for 20 to 30 minutes. In the beginning, do light exercises, but once you gain enough strength and stamina, start doing tough exercises. This will help you from gaining weight and to stay healthy.

Drink Lots of Water

Drinking plenty of water will help your body to eradicate all the impurities that are present in your system. Most of the doctors will suggest you to drink minimum 8 to 11 glasses of water every day. This will make your system clean and will not let any of the impurities to deposit as fat in the body. You can squeeze a lemon in a glass of warm water in the morning and drink it. This again will help you to stay away from getting obese.

Eat When you are Hungry

Do not skip any meals in your day. You should divide your meal into small meals, but see to it that you do not stretch a gap more than 2 to 3 hours a day. Do not eat high calorie snacks as they are responsible for gaining weight.
