Abdominal Exercises Using Hanging Ab Straps

Abdominal exercises are very important to derive flat abs. The right abdominal exercises allow you to be injury free and function to stabilize the spine. With strong abs the ability to perform simple activities like running and golfing becomes much easier.

Hanging ab straps

Hanging ab straps are effective for toning as well as strengthening the abs. To exercise using the ab straps you would have to lift your lower body which works to put strain on the ab muscles.

Working with ab straps is much easier, since you would not have to focus on your grip. The straps are used to tie your wrists around the bar because of which you can focus more on your abdominal workout.

Abdominal exercises using hanging ab straps

Hanging knee raise exercise: For this exercise you have to place your arms through both the ab straps. Hang suspended with your hips bent at around 90 degrees. While performing the workout, allow your lower abs to slowly roll your knees upward towards your chest. Curl your pelvis towards your rib cage. During the exercise, you can exhale at the top of the lift, pause at the top and thereafter inhale slowly coming back to the original position.

Tip: Let your abdomen muscles do all the work. Do not allow your legs to hang straight down. Don't swing and keep your upper body motionless.

Hanging double knee alternating twist: Position your arms through the hanging ab straps. Allow your legs to hang down with knees slightly bent. Slowly roll up your knees while rotating to the right in a diagonal movement. Try getting your knees till your right shoulder. Take a breather at the top and slowly go back to the original position. Continue the exercise while alternating both the legs.

Tip: Let your abdomen muscles do all the work. Exhale during the upward direction and inhale during the downward direction. Don't swing and keep your upper body motionless. The movement used should be controlled and focused.

Hanging knee wipers: Position your arms through the hanging ab straps. Allow your legs to hang down with knees slightly bent. Your head should be up and eyes looking straight. Using your lower abs in a slow motion roll up your knees towards your chest, curl your pelvis towards your rib cage. Your hips should be bent at around 90 degrees. While your knees are in the air, begin the work of moving your knees over to the right and then to the left. The movement of this exercise should resemble that of a windshield wiper.

Tip: Ensure that your abs are doing all the work. Don't swing and keep your upper body still. Move slowly.

Some of the other exercises which can be performed using hanging ab straps are- hanging single knee alternating twists and hanging full leg raises.

To make most of the exercises using ab straps, you would have to lose excess weight. Only after you have cut down on your body weight, would you get flat abs.
